# Ask Evelin and manage private chats

> Ask focused questions, attach files, switch or archive private chats, and distinguish private assistance from shared actions.

Use **Ask Evelin** inside a conversation to investigate a customer question, prepare wording, or request supported actions. Check the conversation you have open before sending your question. The header **Private · Only you** identifies your private chat, not a shared teammate conversation.

## Ask a focused question

1. Open the relevant conversation and its **Ask Evelin** panel.
2. Ask a specific question, such as “What is the customer waiting for?” or “Draft a reply explaining the setup steps.”
3. Review the answer and any cited evidence. Distinguish verified facts from missing or uncertain information.
4. If you use suggested wording, check the final reply composer and its audience before sending.

Type **@** in the question box to discover available tools. A visible tool or a fluent answer is not proof that its underlying connection has access to the requested record.

When draft context is shown as **Unsent … · Private context**, it is context for your private question, not a sent customer message. Remove it with **Remove draft context** if you do not want it included.

## Attach an image or PDF

Use **Attach an image or PDF**. A question can include up to four files, each 5 MB or smaller. Supported images are JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF; PDF is also supported. Check the attachment list and remove unintended files before asking.

These limits are for private Evelin questions, not the customer-reply attachment limits. Attaching a file here does not send it to the customer. Include only information needed for the task and permitted by your organization's policies; do not attach credentials or unnecessary personal information.

## Keep separate lines of investigation

Open **Evelin options**, the three-dot menu:

* **New chat** starts a separate private conversation with Evelin.
* **Switch chat** opens the list of private chats for the current conversation.
* **Rename chat** gives the current chat a recognizable name.
* **Archive chat** makes that chat's history read-only.

An archived chat can be opened from **Switch chat**, but you need a new chat to ask another question. Archiving does not delete the customer conversation or undo earlier actions. A new chat is not a copy of another chat's questions and answers.

## Catch up without requesting a change

For a read-only overview, ask “Summarize this conversation and identify what is still uncertain.” Where the **Catch me up** workflow is offered, it provides a briefing based on the available conversation history and visit context. Check any warning about incomplete history; do not assume every earlier event was available.

## Stop an answer or recover history

Select **Stop** while an answer is running to request cancellation. This is not an undo control: a shared-record or integration action may already have completed. Inspect its result before repeating the request.

If history fails to load, use **Retry loading chat**. After reconnecting, check the existing turn before sending the same question again. Do not rely on browser refresh or signing out to preserve every unsent question or attachment.

## Private does not mean no external effects

Other teammates do not see your private chat through their own Evelin chat. However, approved or directly authorized actions can change shared records, and committed activity can show who requested a change. A Linear issue or comment may be visible to people with access in Linear. Read-only questions, draft text, and committed actions are different outcomes; check which one you received.
