# Connect a website to Evelin

> Connect a public sitemap, check page readiness, and keep website knowledge refreshed.

Connect a public website sitemap so Evelin can use its pages as knowledge. The website connection does not publish copies of those pages in your Protodesk Help Center.

## Before you start

Use a sitemap for content you own or are allowed to reuse. Its pages must be publicly accessible and relevant to the questions your team answers. This connection expects a **sitemap URL**, not an individual article URL.

## Connect the sitemap

1. Open **Evelin AI → Knowledge sources**.
2. Under **Websites**, select **Connect website**.
3. Enter the public sitemap URL, such as `https://help.example.com/sitemap.xml`.
4. Complete the connection and wait while Evelin prepares the pages.
5. Review the source status and available page count.

Check any reported sync or page errors before relying on the source. A connection can exist while some pages still need attention.

## Keep pages current

Choose **Manual**, **Daily**, or **Weekly** from the source's refresh schedule. Use **Sync now** to request a fresh sync after an important website change.

Keep the source website accurate too: if an obsolete page remains in the sitemap, it may continue to be discovered.

## Test the result

Open **Evelin AI → Playground**, enter a question the website should answer, and inspect **Knowledge used**. Confirm that the cited page is current and directly supports the response.

If the answer is unsupported, correct the source content, sync it again, and repeat the question. Connecting a broad website is not a substitute for clear, focused documentation.
